DOVE TAKES FLIGHT AT THE OLYMPICS
The Just a Minute of Peace (JAMOP) logo soared to celebratory heights on August 29, 2004 when the Canadian Olympiads proudly wore crests emblazoned with the JAMOP dove--a universal symbol of peace--during the closing ceremonies of the games in Athens, Greece. The following day, our dove spread its wings when a photo of the adorned athletes appeared on the front pages of national newspaper, The Globe and Mail, accompanied by a story about the final day of the XXVIII Olympic Games.

Although both were watershed moments, the first public show of support for JAMOP and its humanitarian goals was seen earlier in the week when hundreds of fans wore the crests on their shirts, hats and necklaces during the U.S.-Brazil volleyball match. While on opposing sides when it came to the competition at hand, the fans stood together in a show of peace.

Few places could have been better than the XXVIII Olympic Games for JAMOP to make its introduction. The event marked a place where people from all over the world unite under an umbrella of understanding and friendly competition, where respect and sportsmanship are favored over prejudice and war--a philosophy that JAMOP celebrates with the Olympics and continues to spread throughout the world.
